I grew up in Cleveland, OH, and attended Harvard College (1975) and Case-Western Reserve School of Medicine (1980). I was an intern, resident, chief resident (1980 - 1984), and nephrology fellow (1984-1988) at UCSF. I have been a faculty member at UT Southwestern, the University of Florida, and Case-Western Reserve, and am currently professor of medicine at UT Southwestern, chief of medicine at the Dallas VAMC, and vice-chair of medicine at UT Southwestern.
