Leah J. Siskind, PhD, FASN

Dr. Siskind is currently a full professor with tenure at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in the Department of Medicine Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology and a member of the UofL Health Brown Cancer Center. Dr. Siskind's laboratory studies nephrotoxic acute kidney injury and progression to chronic kidney disease. Her research focuses mainly on the short and long-term side-effects of chemotherapies such as cisplatin on the kidney and the role of relevant co-morbidities in this process. The laboratory aims to develop and utilize the most clinically relevant animal models so as to increase translational potential of the research for development of pharmaceutical targets for the prevention and treatment of kidney disease in cancer patients. Dr. Siskind is also highly committed to mentoring scientists at all stages of their careers in an effort to help develop the next generation of brilliant scientists.
